Auraria Campus Board of Directors Approves Parking Daily Rate Increase

The Auraria Campus Board of Directors voted to approve a three-year daily parking rate increase at their June 25, 2025 board meeting.

The three-year rate structure includes a rate adjustment to the daily parking fee of $0.25 for July 1, 2025, July 1, 2026 and July 1, 2027.

This chart reflects what the daily parking rate increases will look like over the three-year span:

Outside of the daily rate increase, permits and passports pricing will remain unchanged for the entire 2025-26 fiscal year before seeing a $.25 increase each of the next two years. Purchasing a permit or passport affords a savings of $0.75 from daily rates; and when purchased can be customized to fit class or hybrid schedules, from one day to full-time which includes Saturdays and Sundays.

All campus meter rates will remain the same ($2/hr with a 4-hour max) and night & weekend rates ($25/30) swill also remain the same from the March 2025 increase.

The Auraria Campus Board of Directors is comprised of the three Chief Executives of the three institutions (Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and University of Colorado Denver) as well as appointees by the Regents of the University of Colorado; the Board of Trustees for Metropolitan State University of Denver; and the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education.

There are also non-voting members from the Student Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board (SACAB) and Faculty Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board (FACAB) to guarantee voices of the student and faculty populations are heard.

This structure ensures that decisions made affecting campus are discussed and voted on in an equitable matter among all three institutions.

The increase will work to provide a stable revenue stream for the campus programs and operations supported by the parking auxiliary enterprise. These benefits include:

  • Parking revenue is key to providing safe and effective snow removal services to the lots, garages and campus.
  • Parking increases are needed to allow the Auraria Campus to provide consistent and functional parking services to the campus.
  • It allows Auraria Campus to maintain the campus lots, which includes re-paving and re-striping the lots and lanes to provide a safe parking experience.
  • The Parking Auxiliary is key to supporting (and funding) not just parking lots and garages, but all general campus maintenance and support.
  • An emphasis is placed on maximizing the external event and after-hours parking revenue for non-campus constituents, which helps keep daily rates as low as they can be.
