Event Center Parking Changes

P.E. Event Center Parking Changes

Parking and Transportation Services would like to inform you of upcoming changes to parking near the P.E. Events Center, aimed at improving access, compliance, and the overall parking experience on campus.

What’s Changing?

Currently, there are 13 designated spaces adjacent to the P.E. Events Center:

  • 3 for service vehicles
  • 10 designated as loading zones

Unfortunately, these spaces are frequently misused for unauthorized or extended parking, which limits their availability for essential campus operations and visitors.

To address this, we will be converting 11 of these 13 spaces into metered parking. This change will:

  • Promote fair and consistent use
  • Encourage turnover in a high-demand area
  • Support campus event attendees and vendors
  • Improve enforcement and accessibility

Key Updates:

  • 11 spaces will become metered and require payment via ParkMobile
  • 6 meter poles will be installed staggered in-between these spaces with ParkMobile signage and instructions
  • The last 2 of the 13 spaces will become designated vendor parking spaces for Ichigo Sando, with clear signage
  • Located outside of the 13 spaces are 6 service vehicle spaces along the mural wall that will remain unchanged to maintain access for campus operations

Why This Matters:

These improvements will:

  • Reduce misuse of loading/service areas
  • Improve short-term parking availability
  • Help generate revenue to support maintenance and enforcement
  • Provide a better experience for those attending events or visiting this part of campus

Implementation Timeline:

We plan to begin installation during the end of Summer Semester, minimizing disruption and preparing for peak demand in the Fall, however depending on timeframe, this may extend into the beginning of Fall Semester.

Next Steps:

Campus institutions will receive follow-up communications from Marketing and Communications with details, signage visuals, and updated parking instructions. We appreciate your support and cooperation during this transition. Please see the map of the affected area.

If you have any questions, please contact us at ParkingRequests@ahec.edu or 303.556.2003.

Thank you for helping us make campus parking more efficient, accessible, and equitable for all.

Sincerely,
