Parking Announces Changes to 7th Street Garage Permit Area

Beginning Spring Semester 2026, important updates will take effect for the current 7th Street Garage Permit Area.

As the permit footprint within 7th Street Garage has expanded from its original smaller footprint to include a larger designated area and an additional row on the second floor, we identified the need to clarify and better distinguish this permit area within the garage.

What’s Changing?

New Area Name
To reduce ongoing confusion between 7th Street Garage permits, Gold Passport access, and Daily Rate parking, the 7th Street Garage Permit Area will be renamed as the Redwood Permit Area.

This updated name will help clearly differentiate permit access from other parking products available in the garage.

Permit Type Update
Along with the area name change, the permit type will also be updated to align with the new Redwood Permit Area designation.

These changes will begin with Summer Semester permit sales starting May 5, 2026.

Current Permit Holders

If you currently hold a Payroll Deduction 7th Street Garage Permit:

  • No action is required
  • Your permit designation will automatically be updated to reflect the new Redwood Permit Area
  • No changes to payroll deductions or account settings will be necessary

Facility Enhancements & Traffic Flow Improvements

To support the expanded footprint and improve the parking experience, the following updates will occur throughout the remainder of the Spring Semester and into the Summer Semester:

  • Updated signage
  • Pillar painting for clearer visual identification
  • Installation of permanent barriers
  • Lane adjustments to improve traffic flow

These improvements are designed to create clearer wayfinding, reduce confusion, and enhance overall traffic circulation within the garage. We appreciate your cooperation as we implement these improvements and look forward to providing a more streamlined and user-friendly parking experience.
