2011 Timely Warning Archive

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in Downtown Denver issued the following notices of crimes that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

January 4, 2011 – 9:20 a.m. 
STRONG ARM ROBBERY AT COLFAX LIGHT RAIL STATION

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Tuesday, January 4th, 2011, at approximately 9:20 AM a white male wearing a green coat and beige pants (no further description) was exiting the southbound RTD light rail train when he robbed another man on the train. The suspect tripped the victim on the train, forcefully took his iPod, and exited the train. The two men then scuffled briefly on the light rail platform before the suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim of this robbery has also not presented himself. Officers are currently searching for the subject. The report of this crime came to the Auraria Police Department from RTD Security.


March 14, 2011 – 8:00 p.m.
ASSAULT AT COLFAX & MARIPOSA

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Monday, March 14, 2011, at approximately 8:00 PM an altercation started between two male parties at the Shell station located at Colfax and Mariposa St. As the victim left the area and was walking south bound in the 1400 block of Mariposa St, the suspect drove up beside the victim and cut him with a knife in his right shoulder down to his stomach. The suspect was last seen driving a maroon Ford Taurus southbound on Mariposa Street, away from the campus. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a blue mechanics jacket. The Denver Police Department is currently looking for the suspect, and advised the Auraria Police Department of this situation.

SAFETY INFORMATION

Blue Light Emergency Telephones: Be aware of the blue light emergency telephones in the parking lots and throughout the campus. Use these telephones to report all suspicious persons or incidents to the Auraria Campus Police Department.

NightRider Service: The Parking & Transportation Services Department also offers a program called NightRider, an evening transportation service that provides safe rides for students, faculty, and staff from any campus building to any Auraria Campus parking lot.
