2013 Timely Warning Archive

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in Downtown Denver issued the following notices of crimes that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

January 30, 2013 – 12:10 p.m. 
ROBBERY AND STABBING OUTSIDE COLFAX STARBUCKS

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at approximately 12:10pm, a victim was approached outside the Starbucks Coffee at Colfax and Lipan. The suspect robbed him of his bicycle and stabbed him with a knife when he resisted. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as white male, wearing a blue flannel shirt, black jacket, heavily tattooed (including an iron cross tattoo on his neck). His first name may be “Randy”. APD and DPD believe that the suspect and victim were known to each other and have no affiliation with the campus.


March 19, 2013 – 9:20 p.m.
ROBBERY IN PARKING LOT MAPLE (LOT M)

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at approximately 9: p.m., two victims were approached in parking lot Maple (near the South Classroom) on the Auraria Campus. The suspect robbed them of a backpack and hit one of the victims in the head with a blunt object. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

SUSPECT: The Auraria Police Department urges everyone to use caution when encountering individuals who are not personally known to them and to stay aware of their surroundings at all times. Please report any suspicious activity or suspicious persons to the Auraria Campus Police Department.


August 5, 2013 – 4:48 p.m.
ROBBERY IN BOULDER CREEK (TECHNOLOGY) BUILDING

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Monday, August 5, 2013, at approximately 4:48 p.m., a victim reported via a campus emergency phone that they were robbed in a restroom in the Boulder Creek (Technology) Building on the Auraria Campus. The victim reported to the dispatcher that the suspect stated they had a weapon and robbed them of their wallet. However, upon immediately responding to the scene, officers have been unable to locate any victim to provide a statement.

SUSPECT: Information about the suspect is unknown at this time. Police continue to investigate this report and patrol the area.

SAFETY INFORMATION

Blue Light Emergency Telephones: Be aware of the blue light emergency telephones in the parking lots and throughout the campus. Use these telephones to report all suspicious persons or incidents to the Auraria Campus Police Department.

NightRider Service: The Parking & Transportation Services Department also offers a program called NightRider, an evening transportation service that provides safe rides for students, faculty, and staff from any campus building to any Auraria Campus parking lot.
