Colorado Department of Revenue’s Denver Regional Service Center Opening in 5th Street Garage

The Colorado Department of Revenue’s Denver Regional Service Center is tentatively set to open a new front office inside the 5th Street Garage on the Auraria Campus, Monday, Dec. 8. This office will house:

  • DMV for driver’s license services
  • Taxpayer services
  • A lottery claims office
  • A cashier and tax remittance office

This office is open to the public, and all members of the Auraria Campus can use their services if needed. Since building out the leasable office space in the 5th St. Garage in 2015, it has mostly remained vacant. The lease with the Department of Revenue allows this retail space to be fully occupied, generating lease dollars that can be reinvested back into the campus.

As part of the opening of the new office space, the DOR will be designated 50 parking spaces on the third floor of the 5th Street Garage. This includes drop-in spaces for guests. These spaces, which will be marked, can be utilized by DOR staff and customers ONLY and will not be open to the Auraria Campus community. Data shows consistent vacancy rates in the 5th Street Garage, specifically on the 3rd and 4th floors, so there is no anticipated impact to campus parking for students, faculty, and staff due to this low utilization.

The office’s busiest days are the 17th-22nd of each month, and those days may see an increase in traffic in the 5th Street Garage. The Auraria Campus community should not see any further major disruptions from this partnership.
