Campus Construction, Traffic, and Parking Impacts
Due to several construction projects and events taking place on campus, there will be traffic and parking impacts to the Auraria Campus. Full details are below.
Partial Building Closures
- Starting January 15, 2026, and until the completion of construction on the MSU Denver Gina and Frank Day Health Institute Tower (estimated summer of 2027), there will be impacts to the West Classroom and the surrounding construction areas. Detailed impacts can be found HERE.
Parking, Sidewalks, & Streets
RTD Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project – Colfax Alignment Impacts
RTD has announced impacts due to the upcoming Downtown Rail Reconstruction project that will be done on Colfax Avenue and around the Colfax at Auraria Station. Impacts will include partial closures of 7th and 9th streets to vehicles and pedestrians. Full details can be found HERE.
Aug. 3-7: There will be a partial lane closure of eastbound Walnut Street between 9th and the 10th Street Plaza. Additionally, the 10th Street pedestrian walkway will be closed during this work. The Tivoli Garage will remain open. Signage, barriers, and flaggers will be present for the duration of the work.
July 29-Aug. 7: The 11th Street southbound lane between Auraria Parkway and Walnut will be closed Wednesday, July 29-Friday, Aug. 7, for work related to the MSU Denver Summit House project. Signage will be present to direct traffic for detours.
July 13-Aug. 14: Walnut Street between 5th and 1st streets will be closed to pedestrian and sidewalk traffic due to a construction project from the City and County of Denver.
July 6-Aug. 14: Due to construction related to the Boulder Creek construction project, 9th Street between Colfax and Champa will be closed starting Monday, July 6, until Friday, Aug. 14. During this time, the road will be closed to all vehicle traffic, while pedestrian traffic will remain open, when possible, but may be closed based on project status.. Parking
- The Boulder Creek Lot will be closed indefinitely starting Jan 1, 2026, due to the ongoing Boulder Creek building renovation.
Champa Street, between Boulder Creek and West Classroom, will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles until December 2026. Alternate routs for bikes and pedestrians can be found below:
Campus Accessibility Shuttle Stops
- The Boulder Creek and 9th Street Station shuttle stops have been closed due to partial fencing. These closures will remain in place through full fencing for the duration of the Boulder Creek project.
- Alternate stop: Early Learning Center
- The Central Classroom shuttle stop will be closed due to safety concerns
- Alternate stop: Cherry Creek building
RTD 11th and Auraria Bus Stop Closure
Due to the ongoing construction taking place in the lot east of the Tivoli Garage, the RTD bus stop located at 11th Street and Auraria Parkway has been moved to 9th and Auraria until at least the end August of 2026 – MORE INFO HERE
