New Parking Opportunities and Focused Accessibility
The Auraria Campus Parking and Transportation office has announced sweeping changes to a number of its lots and parking areas, aimed to increase parking opportunities in underutilized areas of campus, as well as to expand accessibility options on campus.
These options are being offered due to feedback from the campus community, and in collaboration with various accessibility teams on campus.
The detailed changes are outlined below. It is anticipated that these changes will be completed by July 1, with plenty of time for review and additional feedback to be implemented before the start of the Fall 2025 semester.

New Parking Opportunities and Focused Accessibility
11th Street Kiosk Area
Parking and Transportation services will be removing the physical kiosk located on 11th Street next to the Cherry Creek building, this change being in line with digitization and standardization of process for the department and to facilitate more parking options in the area for the campus community. With this project, Parking and Transportation Services is opening 60 new available spaces.
Oak Lot
- Oak Lot is currently a special permit required lot only, controlled by the physical kiosk and its attendant. Moving forward into the summer semester, Oak Lot will see 30 spaces being allocated as Gold Lot Daily Rate spaces, while retaining 10 Special Permit Required spaces.
- These spaces will be available by ParkMobile only, there will be no physical kiosk. Gold passports are also valid for this lot. ParkMobile zone signing will be present, while the permit spots will be denoted.
Clear Creek Building
- Six ParkMobile metered spaces will be added to the front of the Clear Creek Building, while the four 30-minute loading spaces in front of Oak Lot will be changed to facilities golf cart spaces.
St. Elizabeth’s
- St. Elizabeth’s currently operates with parking located in the half circle and the drive directly in front of the church with Special Permits Required for parking in these spaces. Moving forward, this parking will be maintained for the use of the church and it’s volunteers; special permits will be allocated for the discretion of the St. Elizabeth’s staff and the Archdiocese. Signing will be changed to be more specific, as well as moved to better denote the area utilized by the entity.
Science/Library/Media Center
- Moving forward, this area will be turned into a fully functioning Permit Lot “Almond Lot”, while retaining and expanding on existing parking.
- A pillar sign will be added to the lot in line with all other parking lots on campus and will be painted in the teal color denoting Almond Lot Permit Required.
- A total of 24 Almond Permit Required spaces will be added to this space.
- A total of six Accessibility Permit Spaces will be retained in this area as these spaces do not see the volume to justify 24 allocated spaces.
- The three accessibility ParkMobile metered spaces will be retained at the entrance to the Science Building.
- The four loading zone spaces will be moved to better facilitate access to the Science Building and Media Center.
- The five service vehicle spaces will be moved to better accommodate service access the Science Building and Media Center, an additional one service vehicle space will be added.
- The two service golf cart spaces will be retained at the end of the lot closest to the Library ramp access.
Accessibility Reallocation and Improvements
Due to the reduction of accessibility spaces in the underutilized area of the Science/Library/Media Center, additional accessibility spaces will be added to various lots across campus.
Elm Lot
- The two existing accessibility ParkMobile Metered spaces will be moved to the main accessibility ramp located at the North-East door to the Administration Building, and two additional accessibility ParkMobile Metered Spaces will be added to this space. The two existing accessibility Permit Required spaces will also be moved to the main accessibility ramp located at the North-East door to the Administration Building, and one additional accessibility Permit Required space will be added to this area.
Fir Lot
- The two existing accessibility ParkMobile Metered spaces will be retained in their current configuration, and three silver daily rate accessibility spaces will be added to this area.
Aspen Lot
- The two existing accessibility ParkMobile Metered spaces will be retained in their current configuration, and two bronze daily rate accessibility spaces will be added to this area.
Maple Lot
- There are currently no accessibility spaces in Maple Lot. Two accessibility permit required spaces will be added to the ramp access area located on the North-West corner of the Maple Lot.
12th Street Lot
- The one accessibility permit required space will be converted into a accessibility ParkMobile metered space and relocated to behind the current accessibility ParkMobile metered spaces for ramp access.
7th Street Garage
- Six additional gold daily rate accessibility spaces will be added next to the existing six spaces of the same designation.
5th Street Garage
- One additional gold daily rate accessibility EV space will be added to the existing EV space of the same designation. Vehicles parking in these spaces are required to charge their vehicle while parking. All other Accessibility spaces located in the garage will be maintained in their current configuration.
