Vibrant Entrances Project: 7th Street Garage Campus Impacts

Beginning the week of July 6, the Auraria Campus will continue work on the Vibrant Entrances initiative, an exciting public art project designed to create more engaging and welcoming campus gateways.

As part of this initiative, acclaimed Colorado artists Julio “Juls” Mendoza and Jaime Molina will collaborate on a dynamic new public art installation that celebrates creativity, culture, and community. Together, their distinctive artistic voices will transform the entrances to the 7th Street Garage into vibrant, welcoming destinations that reflect the diverse stories, histories, and creative spirit of the Auraria Campus.

This project continues the painting and activation of the 7th Street Garage entrances that began last year.

Project Timeline

Monday, July 6

• Pressure washing begins at the Lawrence Way and Walnut Street garage entrances.
• Work will occur one entrance at a time, beginning at Lawrence Way before moving to Walnut Street.

Friday, July 10

• The Lawrence Way garage entrance will temporarily close for priming and painting.
• This closure will coincide with planned traffic impacts associated with the Harry Potter Drone Show.

• A closure date will be announced once it has been confirmed.

What to Expect

• Garage entrances will be worked on one at a time.
• Temporary closures of the active entrance and adjacent pedestrian crossing will occur while work is underway.
• Alternate sidewalks and pedestrian crossings will remain available throughout the project.
• Noise impacts are expected to be minimal and comparable to routine grounds maintenance.
• The project is expected to continue through the summer and is anticipated to be completed before the first day of the Fall 2026 semester on Monday, August 17.
