Do your part to maintain a clean office environment so that pests don’t make your workspace their living space.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Store food and drinks in tightly sealed containers.
  • Bring all dirty dishes to the kitchen and clean them properly – even food that has been sitting out for a few hours can entice pests.
  • Clean any spills immediately, even if it is just water.
  • Wipe down your workspace daily to remove residue that may attract pests.
  • Dispose of all waste properly – what is trash to us is a gourmet meal to a pest!
  • Dispose of old food at the end of each week to keep refrigerators clean and smelling fresh.
  • Monitor any plants you may have in your workspace to make sure they aren’t providing shelter to pests.
  • Report all kitchen and bathroom leaks to Facilities Services immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of pests do you handle?

The most common are mice, cockroaches, and ants. But we also occasionally deal with squirrels in buildings, rats outside buildings, geese, and pigeons.

Why aren’t the mouse traps baited?

According to our pest control contractor, if you bait a trap it actually attracts more mice to your office/classroom than were there before. So, the contractor typically places traps along the walls where mice run and try to catch them as they run versus with bait.

Can we live trap the mice and set them free?

Unfortunately, our staff aren’t allowed to handle live animals due to safety considerations.

What else can I do to minimize mice in my office/classroom?

Please refer to the list above for tips on minimizing the attraction for mice. The short answer is – don’t give mice a reason to stay even if they do visit your space. Make sure there isn’t any food left out, water spills, crumbs, etc.

A mouse was caught in a trap in my office, what do I do now?

Call 303-556-3260 or place a work order online and someone will remove it as soon as possible.

What if the mouse traps aren’t working? Is there anything else that can be done?

Please place a work order if you don’t feel like our typical process is working. We can work together to identify any food sources that may be attracting the mice, places the mice are using to get into your space, and escalate approaches to catching the mice.
