Ordinary Trash | Place in office/classroom/hallway trash and recycling bins |
Construction-Related Debris or Trash | Dispose in a contractor provided dumpster or transported off-site by the contractor. Construction-related trash should never be disposed of in other campus dumpsters. |
Delivery Materials | Small deliveries: Boxes should be flattened and placed in the larger recycling bins located in hallways, workrooms, and office suites. Large amounts of boxes/packaging: flatten the boxes and place a work order to have the items picked up by Auraria Campus Facilities. Pallets: place a work order to have them picked up. Pallets should never be put in dumpsters or trash compactors. |
Furniture Delivery Boxes | Include packaging haul away in your order, or place a work order to have the items picked up by Auraria Campus Facilities. |
Unwanted Furniture | To learn about MSU Denver’s furniture reuse program, click here. For furniture disposal at CU Denver’s Lynx Crossing, City Heights Residence Hall, and Wellness Center, click here. Place a work order to have furniture picked up and disposed of properly. Do not leave furniture in the hallway. It is a violation of fire code and ADA requirements to block hallways. |

Can I take my large items or delivery debris out to the dumpster near my building myself instead of placing a work order?
No. Dumpsters near buildings should only be used by custodians.
Can I drop off larger furniture items somewhere to get them out of my space faster?
No. Auraria facilities services typically pick up your items within 2 business days.
Can I take an item home that my department no longer wants?
Talk to your supervisor and institution about the process for this.
What is Universal Waste/E-Waste?
Per the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE):
Universal wastes are defined as batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing devices, aerosol cans, lamps, electronic devices and electronic components (e-waste). Universal wastes and electronic devices contain heavy metals that can cause a danger to the environment and human health if not disposed of properly.
E-Waste consists of electronic equipment that contains one or more electronic circuit boards or other complex circuitry, including but not limited to computer monitors, televisions, CRTs, CPUs, laptops, fax machines, printers, terminals, mainframes, and stereo equipment.
