In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in downtown Denver is issuing the following notice of a crime that occurred on or adjacent to the Auraria Campus.

SEXUAL ASSAULT NEAR AURARIA LIBRARY

Timely Warning #5-2020

REPORTED OFFENSE: Early in the morning hours of October 29, 2020 the Auraria Campus Police Department received a Text-a-Tip reporting a sexual assault occurring near the Auraria Library (1155 10th St., Denver, Colorado). The reporting party stated the assault occurred on October 24, 2020 at 12:30 a.m. The Auraria Campus Police Department is investigating the report.  Currently, there is no additional information available.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AT AURARIA WEST LIGHT RAIL STATION

Timely Warning #4-2020

REPORTED OFFENSE: Auraria Campus Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred at approximately 7:17 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2020. While on the light rail platform, after being denied a cigarette, the suspect punched the victim in the face causing serious bodily injury. The suspect fled the area on a light-rail train.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a white male, late 20’s in age, medium build, average height, wearing an unbuttoned black shirt, red shorts, white shoes, a black and white baseball cap, carrying a green backpack.

AGGRAVATED ROBBERY COLFAX AT AURARIA LIGHT RAIL STATION

Timely Warning #3-2020

UPDATE | Friday, August 21, 2020
The suspect involved in this investigation was identified and arrested by the Auraria Campus Police Department on Friday, August 21, 2020.

REPORTED OFFENSE: 
Auraria Campus Police are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred at approximately 9:28 am on Friday, August 21, 2020. The suspect threatened the victim with a hatchet onboard a light rail train leaving downtown.  When the train arrived at the Auraria & Colfax light Rail Station, both parties fell out of the train. The suspect fled through campus and was last seen exiting campus at Speer Blvd & Kalamath St.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s wearing a blue jacket, jeans, and a blue shirt, with a light goatee & mustache.  Here is a photo of the suspect:

SEXUAL ASSAULT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CENTRAL CLASSROOM BUILDING

Timely Warning #2-2020

REPORTED OFFENSE: Auraria Campus Police are investigating a  sexual assault that was reported to have occurred between the hours of 11 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2020, and 4 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2020. The suspect (unknown campus affiliation) is known to the victim (who has no campus affiliation). The suspect and victim entered the campus at the Colfax at Auraria Light Rail Station. The suspect escorted the victim to the bushes on the south side exterior of the Central Classroom Building (1055 10th St.); where he sexually assaulted her.  The suspect is currently at large. A map showing the location of the alleged crime can be found here

Please Note: There was a delay in publishing this Timely Warning due to the victim’s confusion as to the location and time of the crime. Late in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 14, 2020 video evidence was located.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a white male wearing a gray hoodie, baseball cap,  and blue jeans carrying a backpack. The suspect is approximately 54 years of age, 6 feet tall, 155 lbs., thin build, blond hair, blue eyes, and a beard.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY AT AURARIA WEST LIGHT RAIL STATION

Timely Warning #1-2020

REPORTED OFFENSE:  Auraria Campus Police are investigating a  strong-arm robbery that occurred at approximately 6:03 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The suspect rode a bicycle past the victim who was seated on a bench at the Auraria West Light Rail Station and took a cell phone from her hand. The suspect left the light rail platform riding south on 5TH  St. toward the Regency Athletic Complex. A map showing the location of the alleged crime can be found here.   

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male wearing a black hat, a green puffy coat, tan gloves, gray or blue pants, black shoes, had a mask over his face, and was wearing a small backpack.
